Following the success of the implementation of SharePoint 2007 server (ICE), the step was taken to upgrade to Microsoft´s latest version of SharePoint server and utilise many of the advancements.

IT manager, Jon Olafsson commented today “The new version offers the ability to customise the install with a far greater level of control than that offered by SharePoint 2007. As of today all of our internal systems run on ICE (SharePoint 2010)”.
The new system offers a much improved interface and the quick set-up of temporary or permanent pages. For example, on award of a contract a custom page is created for the Client that provides access to ICE remotely from their own computers using only a web browser. Once logged in the Client can access all the information related to their project and the latest data. Similarly, ICE is also accessible from the vessels, MV Poseidon and MV Neptune, allowing effective automation of many tasks and enables timesaving project control. The system is also accessible from a mobile device. This allows the correct person to receive mobile updates on new uploads or access to up-to-date information as they see fit.
Jon Olafsson concluded “By using ICE we can all share ideas, expertise, create custom solutions for specific needs, and find the right business information quickly to make better quicker decisions. ICE has helped us to cut training and maintenance costs, save time and resources, thus allowing a greater level of focus on more important tasks.”
