Chris Wilkes has recently been appointed as Neptune‘s Business Development Manager , Based in Aberdeen and is looking forward to the challenge of helping to build a successful business for the company‘s offshore survey and ROV support vessels from the Aberdeen office.
With over thirty years in the offshore survey industry, Chris was first employed in early 1980 by Wimpol (Swindon) to be the first Aberdeen based employee, engaged to install and maintain offshore navigation systems with the (Syledis) beacons being installed on the tops of drilling derricks and radio masts.
Chris became the AberdeenBase Manager, supporting the navigation business as the company grew and helped to build a successful client base for the company Aberdeen. He then did the same again with a new base in Great Yarmouth, to service the Southern Sector.
After leaving Wimpol in 1990, Chris went freelance and gained over a decade of hands on offshore survey and positioning experience as an offshore Survey Tech working for companies such as Racal Survey, Brown & Root Survey to name a few then progressing as Client Representative for oil & gas majors, mainly on rig moves, pipeline inspections, pipe route surveys and construction projects.
After working offshore West Africa on several assignments, Chris then took on the role of Operations Manager for Oceonics plc, which was soon acquired by Fugro. It was in 1997 that Chris met withthe MD of Andrews Hydrographics and proposed the creation of a new company division ( which became Andrews Survey ), to service ROV survey support services and rig positioning work. He soon founded a team of excellent personnel from which the company grew and prospered.
Chris is now focussed on building Neptune‘s client base and capabilites, to become one of the leading survey contractors in the offshore survey industry.
